India’s star performer Virat Kohli is in the prime form of his career at the moment. He has been India’s best batsman across formats this year. Hunger to score runs was always there in him and this year, Kohli began his campaign against Australia in their backyard, followed by Asia Cup T20 2016, then ICC World T20 2016 (WT20 2016) and Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 in spectacular fashion.

Kohli was phenomenal in every match and series. In between all this, Kohli was pretty unlucky as despite his excellent and consistent performances, India couldn’t reach the finals of WT20 2016 and then he lost a final in IPL 2016 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). All these things never brought his form down and he is again expected to do well for India.

It is also known that Kohli is a big time admirer of India’s living legend Sachin Tendulkar. In the group match between India and Pakistan of WT20 2016, he played a dominating knock 51-ball 82 and after hitting the winning shot, he hailed the legend who was present at the stadium and watching the game from the stands. Kohli bowed down to him. Also Read: When Kohli bowed to Tendulkar after registering his match-winning fifty against Pakistan at Kolkata

In a recent video by ICC, Kohli was seen talking about the WT20, his future and his never ending admiration for Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli hails Tendulkar by saying, “I don’t see why people compare me with him because the way he played his cricket and the way he inspired people, I don’t think anyone else has been able to inspire people like that. Where he is, I think all the comparison should start leaving him aside.”

Kohli also spoke about breaking the record which Tendulkar once said that the current Indian Test captain has the ability to surpass. “I don’t intent to match up to the numbers that he has produced for India because it is humanly impossible to that you will be able to play that long period because he started at 16 firstly and then to be so consistent, you cannot guarantee that.”
