Video: When Ireland’s Gary Wilson defied gravity in ICC World T20 2016

Ireland begun their ICC World Twenty (T20) campaign with their first match in qualifiers against Oman — who are playing for the first time in the tournament. Surprisingly, Ireland lost and it can be easily called the first upset of the tournament in this edition.

Despite they lost the match, there were some breathtaking moments witnessed during the match. It was the fourth ball of 18th over of the Oman’s batting and they were cruising towards the total with only 22 runs required from 15 balls. Oman batsman Aamer Ali played a pull towards the deep midwicket off Kevin O’Brien. Gary Wilson was standing just before the ropes and displayed an incredible piece of fielding by leaping in the air to save a ominous six. Wilson back pedalled and flung himself in the air and pushed the ball to the playing area. He saved five runs from his save and Oman were in a spot of bother.

Ireland went on to lose the match, thanks a terrible last over but the highlight of the innings had to be Wilson’s stupendous effort.
