Sunday was the Valentine’s Day but there was no love witnessed between Pakistani cricketers Ahmed Shehzad and Wahab Riaz, who were playing against each other in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Turning up for Quetta Gladiators, Shehzad, who has been dropped from the Pakistan side for the ICC World T20 2016, smacked Wahab’s first ball for a six at the Sharjah Stadium. The pumped up Peshawar Zalmi bowler cleaned the batsman up the next ball. There was an heated argument between the two as they got physical. Watch the video
The players were fined and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have warned them and an official was quoted by PTI as saying, “The players have been asked to behave as such incidents hampers the image of Pakistan cricket as millions are watching the PSL around the globe. Physical contact is a serious offence and we don’t take it lightly, this time the players have just been cautioned privately since they were fined by the match referee.”
Wahab, who will be one of Pakistan’s key pacers in the World T20 later expressed his view on the incident through a tweet. He wrote:
Passion to win and aggression at times makes you do funny things. For all young ones who watched please don’t repeat nor get influenced pls.
