DJs form an integral part of cricket matches these days and especially Twenty20 (T20) cricket blends well with the high-tempo music. However this DJ at the Barabati Stadium got it all wrong. Indian limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had just begun his stint at the nets when the DJ pumped up the volume. Distrubed, Dhoni sent across the message to turn it off but the music didn’t stop and as a result an agitated Dhoni was forced to leave the nets.

A source close to the Indian side played down the issue. In a report from Indian Express, the source was quoted as saying, “It’s a minor thing. The DJ was testing his speakers. Maybe he failed to understand the communication but he had eventually stopped. The team is not filing any complaint to the Orissa Cricket Association (OCA).”

India are already one down in the T20I series and the Cuttack game is a must win for India. More than 5,000 fans turned up to watch India and South Africa practice on the eve of the 2nd T20I of the competition. OCA President Ranjb Biswal was quoted as saying, “Cricket has always been a big craze in this part of the world, formats notwithstanding. So this is expected. Hope we will have a good game tomorrow.”

A sell-out crowd is expected at the venue. In the first game at Dharamsala, India lost by three-wickets despite a brilliant hundred from Rohit Sharma. The Dhoni-led side will now look for a turnaround.
