Virat Kohli might have ended his ICC World T20 2016 campaign as the Player of the Tournament but he is still upset with the fact that India lost in the semi-final. Starting the tournament as favourites, it was tough to accept the fact that their march was halted at the penultimate stage. Here is Kohli speaking about his mixed bag feelings:

If you have been still sulking over India’s loss against West Indies in the ICC World T20 2016 semi-final, the prominent dalit author Kancha Ilaiah has a reason for it.

Speaking at an event celebrating BR Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary on April 14, Ilaiah in a report from Huffington Post, laid the blame on vegetarianism.

“Vegetarianism is anti-nationalism…if a whole nation becomes vegetarian, its protein levels will go down. You know why the West Indies won all the games? It is because they eat protein-rich food (sic),” he said.

He said that lack of protein in the diet has hampered India’s progress and described nations like China, Korea, Japan and the US more advanced due to the same reason. The author of the controversial book, ‘Why I am not a Hindu’, added, “For me, my nation starts with eating beef. Unfortunately, we gave up eating beef and our brains are not growing now. There is not enough protein,” he said in a report from Times of India.

He put the blame of upper caste Hindu’s and further added, “At a time when Socrates and Plato were writing about justice and republic, scholars here were busy writing about Kamasutra. Do we need to write a book about that? Animals know how to have a sexual life, why are you teaching it at 1st century AD?”
