Pakistan did the unthinkable. To come to England and challenge them is one of the toughest jobs in cricket. Ahead of the series, all the talk was about Mohammad Amir. While few criticised his return, many supported him. He was returning to the Test fold at the same very venue where he tainted the sport six years back. Pakistan defied the odds and won the Lord’s Test.
However, the script took a twist at Old Trafford where England made a terrific comeback. Pakistan fought hard at Edgbaston but England came from behind to pull off an empathic win. Going into The Oval Test, Pakistan had to register a win in order to share series honours with hosts. They maintained their fantastic record at The Oval as they won the final Test to end the series 2-2. ALSO READ: Pakistani cricket fraternity wishes Happy Independence Day to their fans
While Sohail Khan and Yasir Shah starred with the ball with fifers in each innings respectively, it was Younis Khan‘s herculean 218 that gave Pakistan a major lead, which led them to the 10-wicket victory. With this win, Misbah-ul-Haq‘s men have a chance to go to the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test Rankings. However, that will only happen if Australia and India do not win their final Tests against Sri Lanka and West Indies respectively.
Fans and luminaries from cricket fraternity congratulated the Pakistan side for their mammoth achievement. We bring you some of the best tweets.
