When Virat Kohli had a rare failure, AB de Villiers rose to the occasion on Tuesday in the all-important Qualifier 1 of Indian Premier League (IPL) season 9 and took his side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) into the final. What was special about the knock was the fact that he still kept going when RCB looked done and dusted with 6 for 68 in pursuit of 159.

In such situation, an AB special was required to bail out the team and it did happen. Along with Iqbal Abdulla, AB scripted a miraculous win for his side. Such special win on a special occasion called for special celebrations. The moment the victory run was hit, the entire RCB squad came running in from the dug-out towards the pitch to hug the hero of the moment de Villiers.

During this frenzied celebration, RCB leg-spinner and one of the leading wicket-takers this season Yuzvendra Chahal jumped on to AB and hit him hard on his chin. Such was the impact of the collision that AB’s helmet went flying on to the ground. The superman from South Africa still stayed as calm as he did throughout the innings.

When he came for the post-match presentation, an injury mark was visible on his chin. Later, Chahal took to his Twitter account to apologise AB for the incident and also congratulate him and Abdulla on the fantastic effort. He wrote:
