Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates post of the second day’s play in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2016-17, between India Red and India Green. The pink ball is being used for the first time in a First-Class match in India. Yuvraj Singh is heading Red Tea while Suresh Raina is heading the Green Team. The first day saw the swing of pink ball as Sandeep Sharma and Ankit Rajpoot from the Green Team grab hold of their hands on pink ball with wickets and bowling out the Red team for 116. The second innings of India Red cruised through as centuries from Abhinav Mukund and Sudip Chatterjee kept them in safe position ending the day at 344 for 3.

With the help of Nathu Singh 6-for, the Green team were bowled quick and were trailing by just 10 runs. The centerpiece of their second innings was the 240-run alliance between Abhinav and Chatterjee. With Abhinav still at the crease, unbeaten on 162, and with recognised batsmen to follow, India Green’s bowlers and fielders might have to work overtime. Yuvraj’s early wicket for 6 was disappointment once again as a steady partnership was required to push India Red to the bigger lead. The Red team are already leading with 354 runs and will be aiming for 400-run mark making it difficult for the Green team to survive the first game.

Green team’s captain Suresh Raina and Parthiv Patel, who have played First-Class cricket earlier, were found in dismay after their poor run in the second innings. However, his bowlers who shone in the First Day, were looking for various combinations to break the main partnership between Chatterjee and Mukund. Ultimately, the ball lied with Rajpoot who got the break through for the Red team.
