Hello and welcome to Cricketcountry’s live coverage of the Group A match between Assam and Rajasthan at Guwahati. On Day One of play only 69 overs of play were possible owing to a delayed start due to rain. At stumps Rajasthan were reduced to 147 for the loss of five wickets. Assam will definitely be the more confident of the two sides when they take the field on the second day. However the emphasis for Rajasthan should be to build sizable partnerships and attempt to take the total towards a respectable 250. Once that is achieved the bowlers can assert pressure on Assam with a few early wickets.
Live cricket score Assam 212/4 | Overs 78 | Batting: Arun Karthick 60(134), Tarjinder Singh 24(73): Assam have taken the lead with more ease than imagined. Their focus should now be to build a big lead and go for a win instead of settling for the three points from a draw. They’ll be happy with what they have achieved at stumps.
Live cricket score Assam 130/3 | Overs 53 | Batting: Amit Verma 18(71), Arun Karthick 22(57): Assam has managed to battle out for a sizable partnership but the innings has slowed down. Nevertheless, the momentum is wrested with them and that is not likely to change unless Rajasthan make a double-breakthrough soon.
Live cricket score Assam 88/3 | Overs 34 | Batting: Amit Verma 0(8), Arun Karthick 0(2): A sudden double strike by Ajay Singh has restored balance in this game. Pallav Kumar and Gokul Sharma were in a solid partnership and suddenly there are two new batsmen at the crease. Assam are still trailing by 98 runs and the match has been brought back in balance, though still tipped in Assam’s favour.
Live cricket score Assam 43/1 | Overs 16 | Batting: Pallav Kumar Das 18 (43), Gokul Sharma 22 (48): At this stage Assam seem primed to secure a first innings lead. Rajasthan need to make regular breakthroughs, they had an ideal start when Rishav Das was dismissed for a eight-ball duck by NB Singh. But Rajasthan can’t afford to rest on their laurels for even a moment.
Live cricket score Rajasthan 186 | Overs 83.4 | Batting: Dikshant Yagnik 36 (90): Terrible display by Rajasthan on the second day, where they have been bowled out for 186 after an overnight score of 147 for five. Krishna Das finished with five wickets, taking four of the wickets to fall on the second day. Assam have solid chance to finish with a first innings lead but must be careful under these conditions.
The top-scorer for Rajasthan on Day One was Vineet Saxena with a hard-fought 42, followed by Rajesh Bishnoi with 33. Everyone else batted poorly and couldn’t face up to some quality bowling by Syed Mohammed who was also responsible for Karnataka’s collapse in the first match. He got the two most crucial wickets of Saxena and Bishnoi.
Right arm seam bowlers Arup Das and Krishna Das chipped in with the wickets of Pranay Sharma and Ashok Menaria respectively. Arup also affected the run out of Puneet Yadav. Swarupam Purkayastha toiled 18 overs without a wicket but didn’t allow the Rajasthan batsmen to gain any momentum.
