Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the fifth and final One-Day International (ODI) between England and Australia at Old Trafford, Manchester. This is Pramod Ananth and I will be bringing you the live updates from this all important clash between two arch-rivals. Having been 2-nil down in the series after the first two matches, England have done remarkably well to to level the series at 2-2 following two wins at Old Trafford and Headingley. England have the momentum going into the decider as they have managed to trounce Australia in the last two matches and will look to win this match and register yet another series win after already having beaten New Zealand in the earlier series. After a long tour Australia end it with a series win. After losing the Ashes, this series was highly important for Australia to redeem themselves and they have done just that. Australia managed to end the tour with a an eight-wicket win and have won the series 3-2. Here’s Amith Banerjee’s match report

Live Cricket Score Australia 140/2 | Overs 24.2 | Target 139| BATTING: Aaron Finch 70 (64), George Bailey 41 (45): It’s all over at Old Trafford. Australia win the match by eight wickets and clinch the series 3-2. The 100-plus stand between Finch and Bailey was good enough to see Australia home. Steven Smith wins his first series as permanent ODI captain.

Live Cricket Score Australia 111/2 | Overs 21 | Target 139| BATTING: Aaron Finch 57 (55), George Bailey 32 (34): Aaron Finch reaches his 9th ODI fifty and look well in control of the match. Bailey has played well with him as Australia are cruising towards a well-deserved win.

Live Cricket Score Australia 74/2 | Overs 15 | Target 139| BATTING: Aaron Finch 26 (28), George Bailey 27 (25): Australia have brought up their 50 and they are slowly pressing on the accelerator. England need a wicket or two to stay in the match. Australia though seem to be in no sort of trouble. 

Live Cricket Score Australia 36/2 | Overs 10 | Target 139| BATTING: Aaron Finch 14 (21), George Bailey 4 (2) : Smith is caught behind just before lunch and Australia will need a further 103 runs to win the match and the series. Goorge Bailey and Aaron Finch will look to knock off the runs when they come out to bat. OUT! Steven Smith c Bairstow b Wood 12 (28)

Live Cricket Score Australia 31/1 | Overs 7 | BATTING: Aaron Finch 14 (12), Steven Smith 12 (21): Australia going about well and have played positively since the loss of the first wicket. Smith and Finch will hope that their opening that they can set up a platform from where they can go on and win the match with ease.

Live Cricket Score Australia 5/1 | Overs 3 | BATTING: Aaron Finch 1 (6), Steven Smith 3 (2): England start off with a maiden from David Willey. Reece Topley, starts off well in his first over in ODIs. Just an extra in the from that over. But Burns flashes at one outside off and edges to Bairstow. Willey strikes! Steven Smith is the new batsman for Australia. Excellent start for England. OUT! Joe Burns c Bairtow b Willey 0 (10)

England will have their work cut out if they are to defend 138. Australia look on course to complete a 3-2 series win. Here’s Amit Banerjee’s innings report

Live Cricket Score England 138 | Overs 33 | BATTING: Adil Rashid 35 (45): Adil Rashid is looking to take on the Australian bowling and is taking special liking to Ashton Agar. But Agar has the final laugh as Topley is trapped in front. Skipper Eoin Morgan will not come out to bat and England are therefore all out.  Australia need 139 to win the series. OUT! Reece Topley LBW b Agar 6 (27)

Live Cricket Score England 122/8 | Overs 29 | BATTING: Adil Rashid 21 (32),Reece Topley 5 (16): England have showed some resistance so far but has not resulted in anything. Australia had a chance to run Topley out, but Maxwell missed at the non-striker’s end. The fielder backing up also did not collect the ball cleanly. Topley is off the mark in ODI cricket with a FIVE!

Live Cricket Score England 107/8 | Overs 24 | BATTING: Adil Rashid 13 (16),Reece Topley 0 (2): England have finally gone past the 100-run mark but Wood has been dismissed for run-a-ball 13 that brings debutante Reece Topley to the crease. Seems like just a matter of time before Australia knock the last wicket off, unless Morgan comes out to bat, which seems highly unlikely. OUT! Mark Wood c Agar b Hastings 13 (13)

Live Cricket Score England 85/7 | Overs 20 | BATTING: Adil Rashid 5 (7): Mitchell Marsh has struck twice in an over, getting rid of Moeen Ali and David Willey in quick succession. England in deep trouble now as Adil Rashid walks out. Stokes on the other end seems to be batting on a completely different pitch. He’s connecting everything well, but he too was trapped in from off the final ball of the 2th over. Marsh has four wickets to his name now!  OUT! Moeen Ali c Wade b Marsh, David Willey LBW b Marsh, Stokes LBW b Marsh 42 (51)

Live Cricket Score England 72/4 | Overs 17 | BATTING: Ben Stokes 34 (43), Moeen Ali 5 (4): Stokes has looked excellent so far and he will be key if England are to reach a competitive score. Moeen too is no mug with the bat and will look to get his eye in. Plenty of overs left and England can still get a big score if the play sensibly. Stokes meanwhile has been hit right on the abdomen. Good thing he wore an protective gear on.

Live Cricket Score England 60/4 | Overs 14 | BATTING: Ben Stokes 23 (26), Moeen Ali 4 (3): Jonathan Bairstow is out leg before off the bowling of Marsh. The umpire had initially given it not out, but when Australia took the review, the DRS showed that the ball was hitting the wickets. England in deeper trouble now, with their skipper Morgan having retired hurt just moments back. Moeen Ali is the new batsman and he is off the mark off the first ball with a boundary. Stokes is batting well at the other end. OUT! Jonathan Bairstow LBW Marsh 10 (15)

Live Cricket Score England 45/3 | Overs 11 | BATTING: Ben Stokes 16 (18), Jonny Bairstow  6 (8): Ben Stokes is playing some glorious shot as he hits Hastings for a couple of boundaries. He is looking to play straight and is looking elegant, much to the delight of the viewers. Bairstow is looking to get his eye in at the other end.

 

Live Cricket Score England 27/3 | Overs 8 | BATTING: Ben Stokes 1 (5), Jonny Bairstow 4 (3): Eoin Morgan has retired hurt in the 7th over after getting hit on the helmet by a short ball from Mitchel Starc. There were some anxious scenes on the ground and the crowd went into an uncomfortable silence as Morgan seemed in evident discomfort. He recovered, but decided against continuing and walked away with the medical team. He may return later in the innings. Eoin Morgan retired hurt 1 (6)

Live Cricket Score England 22/3 | Overs 6 | BATTING: Ben Stokes 0 (1), Eoin Morgan 1 (1): Nothing going right for England. The third wicket has fallen and the in-form James Taylor goes this time. Hastings does the trick again. He’s bowled a consistent line outside off stump and got some movement off the pitch. Taylor was feeling fo one such delivery and got a faint edge to the keeper. OUT! Moreover, he is partly guilty of in-form Jason Roy’s wicket as he counselled Roy against reviewing a decision that could have been overturned. OUT! Alex Hales 4 (12) c Maxwell b Hastings

Live Cricket Score England 9/1 | Overs 3 | BATTING: Alex Hales 0 (6), James Taylor 4 (8): Australia had a lucky break in the first over. Two wrong decisions went against England, Roy reviewed one but didn’t do the same for the next and had to go lbw to Mitchell Starc to a ball that went down leg. In the first instance, the call was far closer but there was an inside edge before the ball hit Roy on the pads. Jason Roy will be extremely disappointed that he didn’t review the call. OUT! TOSS: England won the toss and will bat first! Couple of changes for both sides, with Ashton Agar and Mitchell Starc replacing Marcus Stoinis and James Pattinson. Reece Topley comes in to make his ODI debut, and he replaces Liam Plunkett.

World Champions Australia will look to end the series on a positive note by winning the match and follow-up their successful ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 campaign with a series win over England. Having lost the Ashes earlier, this is perhaps Australia’s best chance at redemption, considering they are currently going through a transformation phase, with senior pro and former skipper Michael Clarke retiring after winning the World Cup.
