Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of Match 47 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and and Delhi Daredevils (DD) of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Sunday. I am Kaustubh S. Mayekar, and I will bring you all the live updates and scores from this cracker of a contest. In the previous contest between these two teams, DD edged past MI by 10 runs, thanks to Sanju Samson’s 48-ball 60 and Amit Mihsra’s two-for, therefore, MI will be itching to avenge the loss. DD are placed above MI due to a better run-rate. Whichever team emerges triumphant will pull down Gujarat Lions and sit at No. 3. Rohit Sharma has been MI’s highest run-scorer. However, he has failed to provide impetus in the first innings like he does while chasing. Out of 428 runs, he has scored 34 runs in the same number of matches while chasing. It is imperative he comes good for MI to stay alive in the Playoffs race. Another conundrum MI has’t been able resolve is their opening combination. Rohit, so far, has opened with Lendl Simmons, Parthiv Patel, Martin Guptill and Unmukt Chand. While Martin played on one match, Parthiv failed to continue his goof form. To win against DD, MI have no option but to let Guptill go all guns blazing.
DD, on the other hand, have one of the most balanced team composition of IPL 9: elegant top order, fiery middle order and swashbuckling bowlers. Given this, DD have a slide edge over MI. Nonetheless, it would be unfair to write off MI, as they are the defending champions.
