Martin Guptill was extremely humble when he was asked about his double century He said, “Had a couple of good partnerships. That set it up for us in the end. We were just taking each ball as it comes and rotate strike. The 237 hasn’t really sunk in. We still have a lot of work to do, so can’t dwell too much no this.”
Man of the match: Martin Guptill is adjudged the man of the match for his record breaking double ton. What an incredible innings it was. New Zealand seal the match against West Indies and have qualified for the semi-final aganst South Africa, which will be played at Auckland on March 24. Martin Guptill: “Job’s half done, bowlers have to go out there and finish it up. Thank the crowd for coming out here and supporting us. There is pressure, but try to watch the ball throughout and that’s what I did today. Kane [Williamson] and I put on a crucial partnership and Grant [Elliott] and Luke[Ronchi] finished it out in the end. Good pitch, tough to start but becomes better once you get your eye in.”

Based on current form, New Zealand should win easily, but West Indies are extremely unpredictable, which makes them very dangerous. West Indies have the ability to swing any match in their favour as they have many hard-hitters at their disposal. If players like Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels and Kemar Roach get their acts together, they can be extremely ferocious with the bat. Although it is not certain whether Gayle will play in this match after he sat out during his team’s final group stage match against United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to injury. Skipper Jason Holder has been decent with the ball and handy with the bat as well, as his two consecutive fifties prove. However, Jerome Taylor has been their best bowler with scalps to his name. New Zealand have been extremely dominant throughout the tournament. They are the only team other than India to record wins in all the group stage matches. They will look to get off to giid start yet again, courtesy of some hard-hitting by Brendon McCullum at the top. Martun Guptill and Kane Williamson have been in good knick as well. Their middle-order has not been exposed much as the top order have managed to finish off most matches on their own. In the bowling department, they have Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Daniel Vettori, who have been in fine touch. Even Corey Anderson can chip in with some medium-pacers, besides his big shots batting lower down the order.
