Sri Lanka and West Indies lock horns in the third One-Day International (ODI) on Saturday at Pallekele. Sri Lanka registered a thumping eight wickets victory in the second game at Colombo and with that sealed the series. Lahiru Thirimanne and Kusal Perera were instrumental with the bat as they carried the team over the line with their much needed knocks. Perera scored 99 whereas Thirimanne remaned unbeaten on 81. Earlier in the day, the West Indies got bowled out for 214 with Johnson Charles top-scoring with 70-ball 83 which included four sixes and seven boundaries each. After his dismissal, it was skipper Marlon Samuels who anchored the West Indian innings as the visitors reached a respectable total of 214. According to D/L method, Sri Lanka had to chase down 225 runs from 38 overs. West Indies bowlers tried hard but wasn’t sufficient enough to contain the hosts. West Indies have a well balanced side but it needs to click. Sunil Narine has been impressive with his comeback and can turn the game in a matter of few overs. They have match winners but the team has to step up on a whole. They can take a moral win and some momentum which will further help them in the upcoming Twenty20(T20) series.
For Sri Lanka, they will be pretty relaxed and one can expect a few changes in the side as they might experiment with few other cricketers who have been warming the bench in the series so far. Pallekele is set to witness another nail-biting finish on Saturday.
