Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the Indian Player League (IPL) 2016 player auctions for Mumbai Indians (MI). Defending champions Mumbai Indians are one of the most successful teams in IPL, having won IPL 8 in 2015. Mumbai Indians are led by Rohit Sharma, with the likes of Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Lendl Simmons, Corey Anderson, Harbhajan Singh, and Mitchell McClenaghan as back up. The defending champions will feel they are in with an excellent chance of making it three wins in four years. They first won the tournament in 2013, which was also Sachin Tendulkar’s last year of playing IPL. KP Kamath, an unknown quantity, is being fought over by MI and RCB. SRH joins the mix. The bidding keeps going! He’s worth over 10 times his base price already. And MI take him for 1.4 crore!
Jitesh Sharma goes to MI for 10 lakh.
Nathu Singh, with a base price of 10 lakh to start off. RCB start off the bidding. DD start off with the battle. MI join in now, and they swoop up Nathu for 3.2 crores!
Aditya Tare now, with a 20 lakh base price. MI and SRH battling over him. MI back out at 1.2 crore.
Rishabh Pant now, one of India’s U19 stars. RPS and MI start the bidding, but RPS back out at 40 lakh. And now RCB come in. MI and RCB going at it. Meanwhile, Pant is going at 15 times his base price and counting. And now DD swoop in at 1.9 crore. And DD pick him up!
Tim Southee now. And RCB going at it against MI. RCB have bowled out at 2.5 crore. Sold! MI pick up Southee for 2.5 crore!
Chris Morris comes on. MI, RPS, and KRR are bidding fiercely for him! RPS have bowed out, but KKR and MI continue. He is already going at way over 10 times his base price! KKR bow out at 6.5 crores. And now Delhi Daredevils have come in, and MI back out at 7 crore!
Jos Buttler, who has yet to score an ODI century at more than a run a ball, is up for auction. Mumbai Indians start the bidding, at 1.5 crore. And no one else bids, but wait! KKR suddenly wake up and are now engaged in a keen bidding war with MI! That came out of nowhere. And KKR bow out at 3.8 crores. Buttler picked up for 3.8 crores by MI!
Now it gets interesting. Time for Yuvraj Singh! Remember, he has gone for 14 and 16 crores in the last two years respectively. No one bids to start with, everyone seems to be waiting for the other to start with. And finally Mumbai Indians (MI) start the bidding. And as expected Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) enter the bidding. RCB and MI going at it, but not quite as fiercely as one would have expected. MI bow out at 5.5 crores.
Shane Watson in a fierce bidding war between RCB and RPS. Watson is already the most expensive player so far! He becomes the first player to breach the 5-crore mark this year. RPS bow out at 5.5 crores. And now MI come in! Late entrants, but they are now going neck and neck with RCB. And it now goes up past 9 crores! MI bow out though, and RCB picks up Watson!
Mumbai Indians are one of the most popular teams in IPL. They have retained an excellent set of players, but they also released some impressive names. Cricketers like Pragyan Ojha, Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Aiden Blizzard, Ben Hilfenhaus, Abhimanyu Mithun, Aditya Tare, and Pawan Suyal have been let go of by the Mumbai Indians, despite the fact that both Finch and Hales have at some point been ranked No. 1 in terms of T20I batting. Their pace bowling too has been a bit weakened by the releasing of Hazlewood and Hilfenhaus, both of whom are disciplined pace bowlers. Mumbai Indians will want to strengthen their batting order, which lacks a bit of stability. As such they could consider picking up players like Yuvraj Singh, Shane Watson, Usman Khawaja, Kevin Pietersen, Martin Guptill, Karun Nair, Mahela Jayawardene, or others. They might also be interested in picking up a few Indian bowlers such as Krishna Das or Nathu Singh. आईपीएल 2016 नीलामी लाइव अपडेट: 7 करोड़ में बिके युवराज सिंह, शेन वॉटसन 9.50 करोड़ में बिके
