Greetings everyone! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live match coverage of the Day Four of the third Test between Sri Lanka and Australia at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Tuesday. Day Three has left the game pretty much balanced anything can happen in the next two days as no team has gone out of sight with the match till now. Australia were in complete command of the Day Three with skipper Steven Smith and Shaun Marsh secured their centuries and put up highest partnership of 246 runs to keep their side in the series. It slightly tilted towards the end when Sri Lanka’s veteran Rangana Herath once again claimed the maximum wickets and bowled out Australia for 379. Australia took lead of 24 runs and are trailing by just 2 runs. Herath’s six-wicket haul has taken him past legendary Muttiah Muralithran holding 27 wickets against Australia. Skipper Angelo Mathews called Dilruwan Perera up the order along with Dimuth Karunaratne as Kaushal Silva had stitches on his hand. With Mitchell Starc drawing the first blood, Sri Lanka ended their day at 22 for 1 and Kaushal Silva making his way to the crease after Perera was picked for 4. Sri Lanka’s yet another experimentation went into vain.
Sri Lanka’s usual openers will now look to shut the critics and aim for whitewashing the Australians to claim the series title. In contrast, Australian bowlers will bring their A game forward and bowl out Sri Lanka soon to end their campaign on positive note.
