The 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, India’s premier one-day competition, gets underway today across the country at 12 different venues. The tournament sees 37 teams vying for the title, including nine new entrants – Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim and Uttarakhand.
The teams are divided into groups of four – Elite A, B, C and Plate (for the new teams). A total of 169 matches will be played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this year.
Karnataka are the defending champions having beaten Saurashtra by 41 runs last season for their third 50-over title in five years.
