Indian Test team is now under the leadership of new captain Shubman Gill, and are getting ready for a five-match series against England- set to begin June 20. Gill was given the leadership role as veteran players R Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the format.
Shubman Gill is now the red-ball captain, along with Rishabh Pant being named as his deputy. This series will be the first time for Gill as the captain. As of now, Indian team is playing an intra-squad match.
Before the five-match series begins with the first Test in Headingley, Dale Steyn predicted that the series is going to be a close one. However, he backed England to win with a score of 3-2.
“All games will be close. But all will have a result. I think it will be 3-2 in favour of England. There will be a result in every Test match. There will be no run away win for any team, all five games will be very close,” Steyn said on JioHotstar.
India’s upcoming tour of England is going to be a significant one for the team as a fresh squad is going to take one of the most challenging assignment in English conditions.
The five-match Test series is going to be held in five different venues. The venues are:
1) First Test: June 20-24, Headingley (Leeds)
2) Second Test: July 2-6, Edgbaston (Birmingham)
