At the start of the week, considering their woeful form and off-field issues, it was difficult to imagine Australia beating India in the ongoing three-match T20I series. Come Sunday, they find themselves in a position to beat India for the first time in a bilateral T20I series. They edged past against India in a close encounter in Brisbane but would have felt a bit lucky to have the second match in Melbourne washed out on Friday after a below par batting performance.

The no result ensures the hosts will not lose the series but are still within a chance to clinch it.
