AB de Villiers was at it again. He smashed his 25th century in ODIs on Wednesday, in the second of the three-match ODI series against visitors Bangladesh, at Boland Park in Paarl. De Villiers also registered his career-best score in ODIs when he smashed 176 off 104 deliveries including 15 fours and 7 sixes. Backed for a double-hundred, he was still 24 short when he was dismissed by Rubel Hossain after being caught by Sabbir Rahman at cowshot corner. South Africa registered a mammoth total of 353 for the loss of six wickets. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Bangladesh vs South Africa 2017-18, 2nd ODI at Paarl

De Villiers also became the highest scorer for South Africa in ODIs against Bangladesh. He is still behind Gary Kirsten’s record of 188 against UAE in the 1996 World Cup. De Villiers was also involved in a record third-wicket partnership for South Africa against Bangladesh: he added 136 with along with Hashim Amla. Interestingly, this was de Villiers’s first ODI innings as well as series since resigning as the South African skipper: can he keep this momentum going?
