In the just concluded T20I series, India swept Afghanistan with a lead of 3-0 last week. After a 14-month hiatus, the series marked the comeback of India captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli to the T20I format. After two super overs, the match’s outcome was decided, making the third Twenty20 International an intriguing spectacle to behold. Following an extended and exhilarating contest, Team India emerged victorious by 10 runs and secured a 3-0 series win. But once Rohit came back to bat in the second super over, this match also generated some controversy.
India needed 17 runs in the first super over to win off 6 balls. After reaching 14 runs, Rohit made his way back to the dugout. It appeared like he was retired out, and in accordance with the rules, a player who has been declared out in the first super over is not permitted to bat in the second super over.
But in the second over, Rohit came back to bat for India, raising questions over whether he was retired out or injured.

Legendary batsman AB de Villiers of South Africa said, If a player gets out in the first super over, he cannot bat again. He mentioned that the broadcasters could have been at fault.
“Double Super Over unbelievable (smiles). You can’t bat again if you are declared out in the first super over. I think maybe they will claim that he was retired hurt due to an injury and maybe it was a scoring mistake to show him out,” De Villiers said on his Youtube channel.
De Villiers also praised India’s Rinku Singh, saying that the batsman’s consistency is what wins games and that he is a match-winner.
“Rinku is a fantastic player, a match-winner, and it is good to see him become consistent as well. You need to be a consistent player who is always trying to win games for your team.”
