Mumbai Indians’ (MI) bowling attack had a tough challenge during their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Gujarat Titans (GT), but they managed to keep their opponents to a score of less than 200 runs. Even though Hardik Pandya caused the temperature to rise, there were a few other instances where MI fielders were found lacking.
One such incident was when an overthrow cost the team five runs. It happened when Sai Sudarshan pulled a shot off Deepak Chahar. Naman Dhir was the one who stopped the ball and threw it back. In a chance of run-out, he made a direct throw towards the non-striker’s end. However, the ball missed the stumps and since there was no fielder behind, the ball eventually reached the boundary line.
Sunil Gavaskar was commentating on Star Sports at the time, and was left fuming after this incident. He claimed this incident to be “terrible cricket” from the Mumbai team.
“That’s absolutely terrible cricket. No wonder Deepak Chahar is not happy, it (the five runs) goes against his name!” Gavaskar said.

Mumbai eventually lost the match, as they gave out a fair share of opportunities to the opponents for scoring runs. MI was given a target of 197, which they could not complete, and were only able to score 160 runs in the given 20 overs.
