New Zealand pacer, Adam Milne, wants his sides’ batsmen to be on top of their games when they take on South Africa in the third and deciding One-Day International (ODI) at Durban. After losing the first ODI by 20 runs, a depleted New Zealand came out all guns blazing to serve South Africa a eight-wicket blow at Potchefstroom to level the series. As a result, the third ODI series between the teams will be the decider. Milne is aware of the swinging conditions at Durban and knows that Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander can exploit those conditions to crush oppositions. “South Africa will come out hard as always and the likes of Dale and Vernon are very nice bowlers on a wicket that’s doing a little bit,” Milne was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “But if we can adjust quickly and beat them to it, then it could be a good game.” ALSO READ: South Africa vs New Zealand 2015, 3rd ODI at Durban: Preview
Milne, however was not at all surprised that a depleted New Zealand managed to beat an almost full-strength South Africa in the latter’s backyard. According to him, New Zealand under Kane Williamson can be a formidable force despite the absence of mainstays like Brendon McCullum, Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Ross Taylor. “This is a young team led by a good leader. I haven’t been surprised at all in the way we’ve played,” said Milne confidently.
