Top-order batsman Adam Voges on Sunday described Australia‘s thrilling four-wicket victory over India in the third One-Day International (ODI) as “outstanding”.
“It was an outstanding run-chase. We had sort of 10 wickets in hand, we knew we can take the chase deep and if we have wickets in hand we have a chance to chasing,” Voges told reporters in Chandigarh prior to the team’s departure for Ranchi where they will play India in the fourth ODI on Wednesday.
“James came in the end and he won us the game. What he did in the last four five overs were outstanding,” said Voges who scored an unbeaten 76 and starred in an unfinished 91-run partnership with James Faulkner (65 not out) to help Australia overhaul the target on Saturday.
The complexion of the match changed after Ishant Sharma bled 30 runs in the 48th over as Faulkner blasted four sixes and two fours.
Voges said: “We felt that we just kept in touch, we felt that we don’t blow up too far. That was important.
“To start that over and to actually say it to me, this is the over and I’m going to get harder and hit four massive sixes and after that swung the momentum completely back to us and we were favourites after that,” he added.
