Adelaide Strikers sign Colin Ingram for BBL 2017-18

Ingram is currently playing for Glamorgan in Natwest T20 Blast.

With Big Bash League 2017-18 (BBL) just months away from commencement, every franchise in the tournament are already adding new arsenal to their armoury. Latest addition is the inclusion of Colin Ingram by Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming season of Australia’s premier domestic T20 competition. Former South Africa player Ingram, is a renowned smasher of the cricket ball and scored a ton in his ODI debut for South Africa; first-ever for them. Ingram is currently playing for Glamorgan in English county. Ingram signed Kolpak in 2015, and since then being a remarkable player for his county. He represented South Africa in 31-ODIs and nine T20Is.

Strikers’ coach Jason Gillespie on their latest addition, said, “The decision was made that we’d look over the world of an overseas batsman and we found a quality one in Colin. He’s a guy who can bat in the top four and who can make the crowd excited.” He further stated, “He gives it a whack … he has a lot of T20 experience and adds a great deal to our batting line-up. I know that he’s absolutely thrilled and he’s really committed and really excited to be linking up with us.” This season alone Ingram has made 381 runs at strike-rate of 167.84 inclusive of two centuries in Natwest T20 Blast. He just last week scored fastest T20 century (46-balls) in history of competition.

Strikers are also in talks of signing Afghanistan’s spinning sensation Rashid Khan. So far two international leg-spinners have represented Strikers in BBL— Ish Sodhi and Adil Rashid. Strikers finished No.6 in the last edition of BBL.
