Abu Dhabi: England leg spinner Adil Rashid has finally been given a chance to play for England after being selected in the playing XI against Pakistan in the first Test in Abu Dhabi. Rashid spent whole of England’s summer sitting on the sideline, especially during the Ashes. Rashid waited nine long years to make his Test match, bowling over after over in first class cricket in order to get a grip with the art of leg spin .Rashid first came into the scene in 2009 playing an ODI against Ireland. Recently, Australian legend Shane Warne had offered to help Adil Rashid to make him bulid a better career and understand leg spin. Rashid returned to international cricket after a six-year absence in the ODI series against New Zealand. England looked to embrace a valuable spinner who is able to turn the ball. Adil Rashid who plays for Yorkshire has a very impressive first class record with 410 wickets with an average of 34.08 along with 10 centuries registered against his name. Rashid’s career up until now has been a mixture of up and downs. Rashid since the start of 2014 has picked up 78 first class wickets with an impressive average of 26.60, scoring 1063 runs and is turning out to be a good handy batsman as well. Adil Rashid is very popular within the Asian diaspora at Yorkshire having opened his name sake cricketing academy at Bradford. The purpose for this academy is to provide a platform and quality coaching to young and upcoming players from the community who look to make it big in cricket.
