Adil Rashid: Virat Kohli dismissal "most satisfying ball I've bowled"

India were 156 for 3 after 30 overs after a sedate start. The momentum was shifting away from England ever so slowly. Virat Kohli looked compact for his run-a-ball 71. Adil Rashid strode in The series hung in the balance. He tossed the ball up. The speedometer clocked 82 kph. Kohli saw the ball pitch on leg and stayed back after all, what could go wrong? He had never been bowled by a leg-spinner in international cricket... and it was pitched short anyway.

But the ball spun... and spun at an absurd angle, and spat off the pitch. Kohli stood rooted at the crease, his bat poking out helplessly as he saw the ball shoot past the edge of the bat and hit off-stump. Had the ball been pitched up further Kohli would still have got an edge, but the ball travelled for too long after pitching. The turn was just enough to beat the bat and yet not extravagant enough to miss off-stump.

"It was definitely the most satisfying ball I've bowled because he is one of the best players in the world," admitted Rashid to The Daily Mail. "It's the sort of ball you wish you could bowl all the time but on this occasion it just came out very nicely."
