Nepal overcame a slow start in the powerplay as Gyanendra Malla played aggressively against Afghanistan in the Round One of the ICC World T20 2014 match at Chittagong on Thursday. Afghanistan had won the toss and had chosen to bowl. Nepal are 55 for three in 10 overs.

Subhash Khakurel and Sagar Pun started off on a cautious note. Sagar tried to break free in the fourth over and he got an opportunity with Shapoor Zadran overstepping. The free-hit though went for a catch. On the last ball of the same over, he was eventually dismissed mistiming a shot over mid-off and was caught by Mohammad Nabi.

It was Gyanendra Malla who added some spark to the innings with a quickfire 22 from 13 balls which included three boundaries and a six. Along with Khakurel, the two batsmen hit five fours and a six in a space of eight balls. But Malla was dismissed by Nabi.

But Nepal lost the big wicket of their in-form skipper Paras Khadka in the ninth over bowled by Mirwais Ashraf for one. Nepal never looked in control of the game barring the brief moment in between.
