Hello, good morning and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates of the first semi-final between Afghanistan and Oman in the ongoing Desert T20 2017 tournament. Afghanistan will be considered as red-hot favourites for a place in the final of the Desert T20 2017, since they have registered comprehensive victories in all matches of the tournament so far. This is the final day of the one-week long tournament, and all the three business-end matches will be played on Friday itself. It will begin with the first semi-final, where a sturdy Afghanistan will be pitted against Oman. The pressure will particularly on Oman, who will be barely able to catch a proper night’s sleep after their match against Scotland today. Their match against Afghanistan, the giants of the tournament, will begin in less than 12 hours after the Scotland match, and if Oman somehow win that, they will play the final — their third match in 24 hours.
The first semi-final will be played in the morning and the next in the afternoon. The final will be organised later on Friday night, which would surely test the fitness and temperament of all the contesting teams in the shortest format of the game. The final will also help in determining which team among Afghanistan, Oman, Ireland and Scotland are strong enough to bear the pressure of workload. Afghanistan and Ireland have advanced into the semi-finals after ending up at the first two spots in the Points Table of the Desert T20 2017 tournament.
While Afghanistan had 6 points with 3 impressive matches which they all won. Ireland, on the other hand, won. In Group B, while Scotland sat pretty at the first position with 6 points in 3 matches, Oman finished second in the race with 2.
