Jaipur: Taking a cue from Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) is all set to host the four-day final of its premiere tournament Colwin Shield under lights with pink ball from July 12 to 15. RCA secretary Sumendra Tiwari announced it in a press conference held at RCA Academy here today. The first-ever pink ball match at the Pink City will be played at the RCA Academy ground. Tiwari also said that the balls for the match have been especially ordered from Merut. During the match, the cricketers will be wearing white kits and the sight screen will also be white. RCA vice president Amin Pathan, executive secretary RS Nandhu, joint secretaries Vinod Sahran and Nirpjeet Singh, secretary of DCA Sikar, Subhash Joshi, and secretary of DCA Ajmer, Gunjan Sharma, were also present during the conference.
India’s pink ball debut match was the CAB Super Cup final between Mohan Bagan Athletic Club and Bhowanipore at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata from June 17-20. Indian national team’s regular players like Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammed Shami featured in the pink ball match. Mohun Bagan batsman Arindam Ghosh, who represents Railways in the Ranji Trophy, today became the first to score a century with pink ball in India. Meanwhile, Shami who was returning from a long term injury bagged a five-for during that match.
“It’s very bright and glows like a radium. With red or white balls, there was some visibility problem as it took the colour of grass. Definitely I will prefer this ball, this is much better. The biggest plus point is (the swing) under lights, what else a bowler wants,” an ecstatic Shami said after taking the fifer during the CAB Super League final.
