Ex India cricketer Ajay Jadeja feels that Shubman Gill’s ability to score runs regularly is similar to Virat Kohli’s batting approach, and he also praised the young batter for his exceptional skill set.

Skipper Gill was the top scorer for Gujarat Titans against Sunrisers Hyderabad, helping his team post a massive total of 224. He scored an impressive 76 off 38 deliveries at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. GT secured a convincing 38 runs victory over SRH and climbed to the second position on the points table with 14 points.

Gill has scored 465 runs in 10 innings and currently holds the fourth position in the race for the Orange Cap. His opening partner leads the chart as the highest run-scorer, proudly wearing the Orange Cap.

“It’s business as usual with Shubman Gill because this man is just so consistent. We have a Virat Kohli in our country, but Gill is no less. If you look at the consistency with which he scores – it’s similar in style.” said Ajay Jadeja on JioStar

“They don’t take unnecessary risks; they wait for the bowler to make a mistake. Unless absolutely required, you rarely see them throw their wicket away. Skill-wise, Gill is outstanding.” Jadeja said.

“He peppered the offside beautifully with those cover drives. What stood out were those three big hits – one over mid-wicket off Pat Cummins and another off the other pacer. That was a new element today. Otherwise, he remains rock solid,” Jadeja added

Jadeja also pointed out that Gujarat Titans energy and determination in their catching and ground fielding played a key role in putting pressure on Sunrisers Hyderabad. “I think the right word for GT was ‘energy’. That catch from Rashid Khan, and all those diving efforts, were fabulous. He ran a lot, slid in, and still managed to pull it off. That effort shows.”
