India batsman Ajinkya Rahane received a special gift from German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich midfielder Arjen Robben on the occasion of Diwali. Rahane in fact took to social media to thank the club for their gesture. Rahane received a Bayern Munich jersey with his name and jersey no. 27 printed on it. Rahane then sent a India jersey of his name to Robben, which his club shared on Twitter. Rahane was part of the Indian team that defeated New Zealand in the One-Day International (ODI) series. He played in all the five matches in the series, opening the innings for India along with Rohit Sharma.
Rahane also played a crucial part in the Test series against the Black Caps, where India completed a 3-o clean sweep. Robben moved to his current club Bayern Munich in August 2009 from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Robben has played a big part in Bayern Munich winning the last four German Bundesliga titles. Overall, Bayern have won the title on 26 occasions and finished runners-up 20 times. Rahane will now turn his attention for the England series. England visit India for a five-match Test series, which begins from November 9 at Rajkot. England have had the upper hand over India in Tests over the last few years and the hosts will look to turn things around in their favor, beginning with this series.
Happy Diwali to everyone. Thank you to @FCBayern for this special Diwali gift! #MiaSanMia pic.twitter.com/3AwEusTse9
