Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) are off to an excellent start in the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at Mumbai. Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Faf du Plessis have gotten their teams off to an excellent start in pursuit of 122. Rahane has been more of the attacking one, already striking five boundaries and a six along the way. Du Plessis on the other hand has played a sort of anchoring role, although he has struck a three sixes himself, two of which came in the final two deliveries of the sixth over. RPS went past the 50-run mark in the powerplay itself. . Live Cricket Score: Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS), IPL 2016 Match 1 at Mumbai
MI had lost four wickets in their powerplay, but RPS have not lost a single wicket and are going at over nine runs an over. However du Plessis and Rahane were caught in the same end at one point in the sixth over. but some poor fielding from MI helped du Plessis return home safely. Harbhajan Singh’s unbeaten 30-ball 45 helped MI put up a score of 121 on the board, which looked impossible at one stage. There were also useful contributions from Ambati Rayudu and Vinay Kumar down the order as well. It was however Rohit Sharma, who won the toss and decided MI will have a bat first. He would have certainly wanted to score much more than this, but he and MI will have to bounce back in the next match. They can however still make a comeback in this match, with Kieron Pollard and Harbhajan still to bowl.
