Ajit Agarkar, Nilesh Kulkarni, Sunil More and Ravi Thakkar have tendered their resignations a day after the conclusion of 2018-19 Indian domestic season.
In a surprising move, all four Mumbai cricket selectors – Ajit Agarkar, Nilesh Kulkarni, Sunil More and Ravi Thakkar – have tendered their resignations a day after the conclusion of 2018-19 Indian domestic season.
According to reports, their resignation comes on the same day ahead of the Mumbai Cricket Association’s adhoc committee meeting that was set to remove the selectors from their positions.
According to a report in The Hindu, the selectors emailed their resignation letters to the ad-hoc committee and MCA chief executive C.S. Naik. Earlier, group of members in an Special General Meeting (SGM) last month had passed a resolution to sack the selection panel.
In the last two years, Mumbai have managed to win just one domestic title – The 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The selectors were under pressure after a Special General Meeting of the MCA member units had passed a resolution to sack them.
The matter had then come up to the Cricket Improvement Committee which backed the selectors.
