Mumbai off spinner Ramesh Powar feels Ajit Agarkar’s exclusion has signaled a strong message that players cannot take their places for granted in the team.

Powar was quoted in DNA as saying, “I can’t think I won’t be dropped. After the Orissa game (referring to Agarkar), I learnt that nobody is sure of his place in the team.

“If you see Agarkar going out, you could be next in line. It is as simple as that.”

Powar, a long time friend of Agarkar feels the ousted pacer will return to team when he feels fine.

He said, “He will take his time. I have played with Agarkar since my school days. It hurts that he is not part of the squad in spite of his talent. I don’t want to convince him because I know he will come back when he feels fine.”

Powar, who scored 81 against Punjab, feels as a senior cricketer he now needs to perform in all departments to help the team.

He said, “Earlier I was just enjoying my cricket, but now I have to do more than that. Take wickets and score runs every time I get a chance.”
