Akash Deep is set to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of their clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday. As per a report by cricinfo, Akash Deep has not played any game since December 2024 as he suffered a back injury during the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

He last played a T20 match for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against MI at Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2024. In total, he has appeared in eight matches for RCB since 2022, taking seven wickets. He is yet to make his debut for LSG.

Akash’s arrival in the LSG can improve their balling lineup, as the team is struggling from a lot of injuries. Mayank Yadav’s recovery from a lumbar stress injury was further complicated by a toe injury, while Mohsin Khan has been ruled out of IPL 2025 after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last December.

LSG currently has Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan in its fast-bowling lineup, and Prince Yadav has been included in the first two matches. The team has managed just one win in its first three games of IPL 2025. Akash, who has taken 49 wickets in 42 T20 matches, was purchased by LSG for Rs 8 crore in the mega auction before this season.
