A fine all-round performance by Mohammed Monis helped local Al Barkat Malik English School get the better of Kiddy’s Corner School, Gwalior by four wickets and enter the final of the Coca-Cola Cricket Cup Boys Under 16 Inter-State Challenge here today.

 

Monis cracked 74 in 78 balls with a six and ten fours to help Al Barkat chase down their rivals’ score of 178.

 

Earlier, the Gwalior school found the going tough and were shot out in 45 overs, with Sanket Shrivastava top scoring with 36 and Monis grabbing 2 wickets along with Jahangir Ansari.

 

Al Barkat would meet Sports Campus College, Lucknow in the final after the latter defeated Delhi’s Salwan Boys School by 33 runs in the other semi final.

Kiddys Corner School, Gwalior 178 all out in 45 Overs (Sanket Shrivastava 36; Jahangir Ansari 2 for 37, Mohd Monis 2 for 25) lost to Al Barkat Malik English School 180 for 6 in 43.4 overs (Mohd Monis 74, Pushkar Sharma 44; Prankesh Rai 3 for 21).

 

Sports Campus College, Lucknow 222 for 5 in 40 overs (Vivek Anand 90, Mohsin Ali 68; Bharat Shankar 2 for 39) beat Salwan Boys School, Delhi 189 all out in 37.4 overs (Mukulit Bhatt 59, Saurav Dagar 59; Ankur Baliyan 6 for 29).
