United Arab Emirates (UAE) skipper Amjad Javed, bowled a classical spell, as he claimed three wickets for just 25, while Sri Lanka managed to post a below par total of 129 for the loss of eight wickets, in Match 2 of the Asia Cup T20 2016 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on Thursday. Dinesh Chandimal, the opening batsman of Lanka, was the lone star of the Lankan innings, as he managed to score 50, while Tillakaratne Dilshan was the second highest scorer with 27 runs. Earlier, UAE skipper Javed won the toss and elected to field first on a slow Mirpur track, and also keeping in mind the dew factor, as they fielded an unchanged squad from the qualifiers final, while Sri Lankan skipper Lasith Malinga moved in with a balanced side, as they began their innings on a solid note, with the openers in the form of Dinesh Chandimal and Tillakaratne Dilshan put up a strong opening stand of 68 runs, before Dilshan fell for 27 in the 10th over to Javed.
Following his dismissal, the partnerships began to go sore, as with just 11 runhs added to the total, it was Milinda Siriwardana, who fell for mere six to Javed again, followed Chandimal in the 14th over, as he, in the meanwhile, also brought up his second T20I half-century. As the score read 98, it was the fourth wicket in the form of Dasun Shanaka, who fell for mere five to Mohammad Naveed in the 16th over, followed by Angelo Mathews in the very next over for mere eight to Rohan Mustafa. As Sri Lanka brought up their 100 runs by the 17th over, wickets continued to tumble as at the score of 113, it was Shehan Jayasuriya, who fell for mere 10 to Mohammad Naveed in the 18th over, followed by Chamara Kapugedara in the final over, while Nuwan Kulasekara was the final man to be dismissed off the final ball of Mohammad Shahzad, as Sri Lanka finished their innings on 129 for the loss of eight.
