Former England all-rounder, Andrew Flintoff reportedly has a few offers from the Big Bash League (BBL) teams after his near fairytale comeback for Lancashire in the T20 Blast in England. In the final for Lancashire against Birmingham, Flintoff took the wicket of Ian Bell off his first ball and then smashed a quickfire 20 at the end to give them hope of victory. However, Flintoff is in no hurry to rush things. Read: Flintoff turns back the clock with a remarkable performance in T20 Blast final

Speaking to BBC Lancashire, Flintoff said “I’ve had offers to play in the Big Bash but I’m going to sit down and talk with my family. I’ve never been to Australia and played — apart from that series we don’t speak about — so I’d love to do that. If there’s an opportunity there, why not? It’s one of the things I’ve wanted to do, I was about to sign for Queensland in 2009 when I retired.”

Flintoff also said that he always dreamt of playing the game again and is happy to be back after injuries had marred his career. “I always dreamt I’d play again but realistically didn’t think it was possible. I had the knee surgeon saying you can’t run again and that was like a red rag to a bull. I can bowl better than this, I can get quicker. I’m getting fitter all the time — it’s been a real effort on my part — and I reckon if I can have a pre-season next year, be around the team a bit more I think I can contribute and win something for Lancashire. It’s a burning desire of mine.”

Flintoff will now face a long time away from the game, unless he plans to sign with a BBL side. It has truly been a remarkable comeback from him this year and he is certainly hoping for a lot more to come in the times ahead.
