As Sri Lanka face Ireland in the first One-Day International (ODI), skipper Angelo Mathews remained unlucky to get dismissed at 48. Sri Lanka recently ended their Test series with England which they lost 2-0 and will play them in five ODIs after the two ODIs with Ireland. Sri Lanka, after a tumbling start, managed to get themselves back on track in the game as they went past 200 with 11 overs still remaining. Sri Lanka were decent in the Test series and will look to win the two-match ODI series to face England once again full of confidence. Earlier, Sri Lanka lost an early wicket in Danushka Gunathilaka as he fell for international debutant Barry McCarthy’s delivery. Kusal Perera also departed early as McCarthy took his second. Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal took things further taking team’s score past hundred. Mendis made his half-century but departedf soon after letting Mathews in. Chandimal and Mtahews built up the most crucial partnership of the innings and saw Sri Lanka reach 200. Chandimal scored his half-century and remained at the crease playing a matured knock while Mtahews remained unlucky ad Max Sorensen’s delivery went past the gap between his bat and pad to get him out for 48. Dasun Shanaka came in to bat following Mathews.
