“I was the first one to call Ravi after I was chosen as the head coach. He did a wonderful job [with] the Indian team. It is not about a Ravi or an Anil or a head coach, it’s about the players and it is about the team. From my point of view whether it is Ravi or me or any Indian following the team, we all want the Indian team to do well.
“We all want the Indian team to perform at its best. We all know the potential is there for the Indian team to dominate in all three formats. If I am part of the journey; he was the part of the journey… he congratulated me. I told him it’s a young team, it is a fantastic team that we have,” Kumble said.
“It could be somebody else… I am not permanent in this role. I have an opportunity to make a difference, I have an opportunity to be a part of the journey, and if I am part and we all see the Indian cricket rise to the levels that all of us expect it to raise, then I think it is wonderful and I am very privileged like I mentioned,” he added.
India will be playing 4 Tests in the Caribbean in July-August 2016, following which they have as many as 13 Tests at home against Bangladesh, New Zealand, England and Australia.
