Ex India head coach and legendary spinner Anil Kumble praised opener Prabhsimran Singh and pacer Arshdeep Singh for Punjab Kings dominating victory over Lucknow Super Giants in Dharamshala on Sunday.

Prabhsimran Singh played a brilliant knock of 91 off just 45 deliveries, including seven fours and four sixes, while skipper Shreyas Iyer scored 48 runs off 25 balls, helping PBKS reach a massive total of 236 runs in their 20 overs.

Coming to the bowling, Arshdeep Singh took three crucial wickets of LSG’s in-form batters—Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran—triggering a batting collapse.

LSG batters failed to chase down the target despite Ayush Badoni’s impressive knock of 74 off 48 balls, featuring five sixes and five fours. Punjab secured second place on the IPL 2025 points table after restricting LSG to 199/7 in their 20 overs.

Prabhsimran Singh was named Player of the Match for his outstanding innings that laid the foundation for Punjab’s big total.

“He’s (Prabhsimran) certainly shown that he can play all around the ground; ramp shots, pull, hook, reverse slog, and sweep , he’s got it all. What’s been exceptional this season is his consistency. In the last three games, he’s delivered. Today, he was dropped on 21 but carried on, made it count, and ensured his runs mattered deep into the innings. He’s been outstanding for Punjab,” Kumble said on JioHotstar.

Kumble also lauded Arshdeep Singh for his four over spell as he took 3 wickets conceding only 16 runs. “This was the moment where a momentum shift was needed – and it came with the bat first, posting 236, which isn’t an easy target to chase. But in a game like this, the powerplay becomes critical.” Kumble said

“Arshdeep Singh set the tone brilliantly, swinging the ball both ways, hitting the right line and length, and keeping things simple. He broke through the top order – LSG’s most destructive batters and that was the decisive moment. His three wickets in the powerplay laid the foundation, and the other pacers backed him up perfectly,” he added.
