The 17th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) started with a minute’s silence in memory of recently-deceased 21-year-old Bengal cricketer Ankit Keshri. The match, taking place at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, was marked by the news of Keshri’s passing early in the day. The players of both teams and also the umpires wore black arm-bands as well to show their support. LIVE Scorecard: Delhi Daredevils (DD) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), IPL 2015 Match 17

Keshri was the captain of Bengal’s under-19 team, and was in serious contention for a spot in Bengal’s Ranji Trophy team. His coach and mentor Raja Mukherjee told CricketCountry, “Ankit came through the ranks, playing age group cricket for Bengal and East Zone. He was good, old-fashioned top order batsman with a solid technique to play the new ball. Though his strike rate was bit on the lower side but I personally liked him. He was playing first division cricket for one of Bengal’s established clubs, East Bengal. As a chief selector, this is a big loss for me, as Ankit was in our frame of schemes for the longer format.” LIVE Updates: Delhi Daredevils (DD) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), IPL 2015 Match 17
