Deccan Chargers pacer Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of season five of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL), who underwent ankle surgery in London few days ago.
“His stitches will be removed only on April 2 or 3. It is unlikely he’ll turn up for the IPL,” A source close to Ishant was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
IPL season five starts on April 4 and ends May 27, 2012. The Delhi bowler is likely to India early April.
Ishant, who was advised to undergo surgery during England tour last year, postponed the operation to stay available for India’s tour to Australia, as it would require minimum six months for him to recover. However, he managed to grab only five wickers in four Tests and returned back home before the start of Commonwealth Bank series.
He was being treated with by Jatin Chaudhary, an alternate therapy expert. Later on, laser was used to liquefy the extra bone growth in his ankle.
Ishant is unlikely to return to cricket before September, when India will feature in the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Sri Lanka.
