BCCI president Anurag Thakur on Friday condoled the demise of Vikrant Kumar, an Under-23 cricketer from Himachal Pradesh, who died in an accident. “It is extremely sad to learn about the sudden tragic death of Vikrant. He was a very bright boy and would have definitely made HPCA and the entire state of Himachal proud,” said Thakur, who is also the president of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA). “My heartfelt condolence to the family and I wish them the strength to brave this difficult time. May Vikrant’s soul rest in peace,” he said. Vikrant had died on Wednesday night after meeting with an accident in Una.

The BCCI has not implemented the Lodha Panel recommendations on the given deadline and as a result they have approached the Supreme Court for the removal of Thakur and other top BCCI officials from their posts. Lodha Panel on Wednesday morning moved to Supreme Court for removal of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) top bosses including its president Thakur for non-compliance towards Lodha recommendations and not following the reforms. The panel further requested for an urgent hearing which Chief Justice of India, TS Thakur, set for October 6. Earlier, Lodha committee had already provided certain deadlines for the implementing the Lodha reforms.
