Virat Kohli, with his batting, has spellbound every cricketing legend. Now after his show in the ongoing India-Sri Lanka series, Sri Lanka great Aravinda de Silva left no stone unturned to compliment the Indian skipper. Himself a star of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning side, Aravinda feels he finds a bit of Sir Vivian Richards in the way Kohli bats. Aravinda further added that Kohli has taken Indian cricket to new heights from where the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar and others had left it.

Speaking to Times of India, Aravinda said, “It’s the way he approaches his game, and also his arrogance and confidence. I think he reminds me a lot of some of the past greats like Viv (Richards).” He further added,” The way he took on the mighty Australians in Australia was something very special. Like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and then Sachin Tendulkar, who all changed the complexion of Indian cricket, Kohli has it in him to take Indian cricket to a different level.” India are currently 2-0 up in the 3-Test after they pounced over Sri Lanka in Colombo Test by an innings and 53 runs. Kohli praised his co-batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane for their remarkable contributions. He even went on to call Pujara as the best batsmen in Tests currently. Kohli said, “All of us have, but Pujara’s game has gone to another level. If you see last season, continuing now, he’s got about 1500 runs which is outstanding. All credit goes to how hard he’s works on the game, and how he thinks about his game as well.”
