Not all is gloomy for Mumbai cricket at the moment. Karnataka are feasting on them in the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 quarter-final at the moment but the Under-19 side of Mumbai notched up a comprehensive victory over Assam in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 2017-18. Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun was one of the chief architects of the innings and 154-run win.
Arjun claimed a four-for in the second innings to bowl out Assam for 109. The match wasn’t played far from Arjun’s residence in Bandra. At BKC, Mumbai elected to field and Sidak Singh’s five-for blew out Assam for 94. Arjun bowled 10 overs in the first innings, bowling 6 maidens and gave away 9 runs. Riding on Varun Lavande’s hundred and fifties from openers Suved Parkar and Karan Shah, Mumbai posted 357. Arjun, who batted at No.9, was dismissed for 2 by Mukhtar Hussain, who finished with a six-for.

Arjun with his left-arm pace was the star for Mumbai in the second innings. He claimed 4 for 44 from his 15 overs. Mumbai now have a win and a loss from 4 matches in Group B. Arjun earlier this year was seen bowling to the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Team India nets. It might be a too early to predict but another Tendulkar is rapidly taking strides in Mumbai cricket.
Brief scores
Assam U-19 94 all out (Sourav Saha 52*; Sylverstar D’souza 3 for 11, Sidak Singh 5 for 33) & 109 all out (Aman Chhetry 25; Arjun Tendulkar 4 for 44, Tanush Kotian 3 for 0) lost to Mumbai U-19 357 all out (Suved Parkar 52, Karan Shah 76, Varun Lavande 118; Mukhtar Hussain 6 for 126) by an innings and 154 runs.
