Former India opener Arun Lal gave cricketing tips to a group of budding players from Old Srinagar city.
“Former Indian cricketer, eminent commentator and sports writer Arun Lal interacted with Under-14 cricketers from Down Town city yesterday,” a defence spokesman said on Wednesday.
He said the interaction was organised by Chinar Air Defence Brigade at Old Air Field Military Station.
Lal gave some valuable tips on the nuances of the game to the young kids and also provided tips to the coaches, who were accompanying the young cricketers, during an hour-long interaction, the spokesman said.
“He (Lal) exhorted the nubile minds to work hard and think big … then even impossible can be achieved,” the spokesman said.
The former cricketer was in Srinagar for the inauguration of the second phase of Kashmir Premier League, sponsored by the Army.
“There is abundance of talent in the valley. They only require nurturing and facilities and the day is not far when cricketers from the valley would represent India in International cricket,” the spokesman quoted Lal as saying.
