Former international cricketer Gavin Robertson has said that spin bowler Nathan Lyon more than matched the aggressiveness that defined Michael Clarke‘s pace attack in the opening Ashes Test victory at Brisbane.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Robertson, a spin bowler who represented Australia during the late 1990s, nominated Lyon, who for far too long has struggled for his due recognition, as the nation’s most aggressive finger-spinner since the 1960s. Robertson said that statistically, from their perspective, and definitely on their wickets, Lyon is right up there. Robertson also said the aggression Lyon exuded in his bowling was matched by his mental toughness to overcome a series of blows to his ego, according to the report
