In reply to Australia’s first innings score of 295, England’s batting fared miserably as they were shot out for 136 on Day two of the first test at Brisbane on Friday. The English side was criticised on Twitter, while the Australian bowlers too earned some compliments.

Except for Michael Carberry, none of the batsmen could handle the pace of Mitchell Johnson and the spin of Nathan Lyon. Off-spinner Lyon got two in two. He first dismissed Ian Bell for five. he next ball was similar and Matt Prior also edged it onto his thigh pad and Steven Smith took the catch.

Meanwhile Johnson dismissed Michael Carberry for 40, Joe Root for two and Graeme Swann for a duck.
