Out of favour left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra is all set to play a first-class after a gap of three years after being named in the 15-member Delhi squad for their Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu starting from November 17.
Nehra last played in a first class match back in 2008 against Hyderabad. Since then he has been only playing the ODIs and T20. He preferred to keep it that way as he felt that his body won’t be able to take the rigours of the longer version.
However after being unceremoniously dumped by the national selection committee as they are not really certain about his fitness status, Nehra didn’t have much option left but to play in Ranji Trophy in order to prove his form and fitness.
The veteran pacer’s inclusion will also bolster Delhi’s bowling attack which has looked pedestrian so far as Gujarat inflicted a humiliating innings defeat on them.
